Our mission
Skincare shopping in the UK can be overwhelming. Hundreds of products, confusing ingredient lists, and prices that vary wildly between retailers. SkinChecker was built to cut through the noise.
We believe everyone deserves access to clear, honest information about what's in their skincare and where to get it for the best price. No hype, no fear-mongering — just straightforward, helpful information.
How it works
SkinChecker brings together two things that matter when choosing skincare:
Price comparison
We check prices across UK skincare retailers so you can see at a glance where to find the best deal. We currently feature products from Branded Beauty, with more retailers coming soon as we expand our partnerships. We update prices regularly to keep information current.
Ingredient analysis
Every product on SkinChecker includes a breakdown of its key ingredients, written in plain English. We highlight hero ingredients, supporting ingredients, and anything worth noting (such as fragrance or potential irritants). Our goal is to inform, not alarm.
Our methodology
We take a balanced, evidence-informed approach to ingredient information:
- No fear-based labels. We avoid alarmist language. Instead, we use nuanced categories like "generally gentle", "worth noting", and "sensitive skin caution" to give you context without unnecessary worry.
- Plain English descriptions. We explain what each ingredient does and who it may suit, based on its common function and known sensitivities.
- Individual variation acknowledged. Skin is personal. We always note that reactions vary from person to person, and we encourage users to patch-test and consult a dermatologist when needed.
- Educational, not medical. Our ingredient notes are informational. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice.
How we make money
SkinChecker is free to use. We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships with UK retailers. When you click a retailer link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Importantly, our affiliate relationships do not influence which products we show or how we rank them. We always display the lowest price first, regardless of which retailer it comes from. For full details, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
What we're building
SkinChecker is actively growing. We're working on expanding our product database, adding more retailers, and building out features like personalised recommendations based on skin type and concerns. We want to be the most trusted skincare comparison tool in the UK.
